Christopher Favale's paintings utilize the appeal of the portrait to present his exploration of color and texture. Favale uses preexisting images of attractive young men sourced from independent magazines and other alternative publications which are then manipulated to create pixelated images that allow for his experiments in pattern and color. Favale's earlier work is composed of collage and text based images that feature simular experimentation as the above series of portraits. I was fortunate enough to view much of his work in person as apart of his thesis at Pratt as well as in progress in his studio.  I hope to see more very soon.
