Marc Jacobs Resort 2013

It's the 30s à la the 70s. It's the circus meets the runway. It's Marc Jacobs' resort 2013 collection. It's both young and mature, but definitely not demure. Proportions are big and long, patterns are bold and colorful, and the shoes all have a great chunky heel. See the full collection at Style.com.

 

Jill Stuart Resort 2013

I never thought I would be dedicating a whole post to a collection by Jill Stuart. However, her resort 2013 collection has me doing the formerly unthinkable. Something about the simplicity of the garments mixed with the androgyny of the model (Sojourner Morrell) seems to keep me looking. There's a femininity to the flirty ruffled peplum, gathered skirt, and soft pastel palette but it's foiled by the boyish cuts of the boxy shorts and T- shirt tops. It's a play with gender that I'm not so sure is completely intentional. Whether, intentional or not I'm surely enjoying it and hope to see more of this come September.

The resort shows are beginning to pick up with a colorful print filled collection from Just Cavalli, bold classics from DKNY, monochromatic floral prints from Erdem, and head-to-toe color at Oscar de la Renta. See the full collections at Style.com.

Channel Resort 2013

It's that time of year again when the designer houses present their resort collections to press and buyers. The first of them being Channel's Versailles presentation. The collection was a bit of Marie Antoinette meet Azealia Banks. Designer Karl Lagerfeld wished to infused "Frivolity" into the Resort 2013 collection, stating he "[knew] people who were saved by frivolity." Highlights included full hips, stacked trainers, pastels bobs and ruffles (of course).  The collection is at times a bit absurd and other time surprisingly fresh.
