Today it rained. Today it really rained. My shift at the Pratt Pop Up Shop was dull with only two people stopping by over six hours of sitting in the cold shipping container shop. I spent my time occasionally looking up from my copy of Patti Smith's book Just Kids to see the rare sight of a potential shopper with umbrella in hand running past the front window.  This reminded me of a website I stumbled upon the night before, Gina & May, an Australian site which sold beautiful umbrellas.  Which lead me to think of how much better my day could have been if beautifully patterned discs were running past me instead of the classic black run-of-the-mill ones I had to look at. Thus, I've created this post and suggest one should purchase a colorful patterned umbrella as soon as possible, if not to brighten my rainy day, but to brighten your own.

Shannon and her company is one of the most recent members to join the Pratt Design Incubator for Sustainable Innovation located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
