I posted the behind the scenes video for the Kenzo Spring 2013 ad campaign and thought it might be a good idea to share the end product. These ads get me so ready for spring I think I'm going to have to own the look directly above. If only I could afford it!

I Still Love You

Here's the awesome I Still Love You SS13 video created by Leveler media. The video features blonde bob wearing clones adorned in plastic geometric shapes suspended from gold chains. PFW Spring 2013: Balmain

For Spring 2013, Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing took inspiration from Cuban wicker chairs. Maybe too literally, garments were actually woven from rattan, creating the appearance of stiff structures that hover around the body. (Images via Style.com)

    

Fendi's Modernist Bags

For Spring 2013 Fendi, the decades old fashion house took on modernism. Creating graphic blocked garments made of geometric patterned furs and leathers. However, the standouts are the bags. Cubes made from fur and beaded leather adoren classic shaped clutches and totes. See through vinyl pockets act as holder for your clutch when you need something a little bigger. Beaded textures and bold blocking can sum up the rest of the bunch. In all a great post-modern take on modernism.

Spring 2013: Carleen

Kelsy Carleen Parkhouse is the first winner of the Liz Claiborne Concept to Product Award. The $25,000 prize is given to one graduating senior from the Pratt Institute Department of Fashion Design based upon the work exhibited during the Pratt Fashion Show. As a faculty member at Pratt, I was a big champion of Kelsy's Grand Canyon inspired collection filled with vintage textiles and hand quilting. I'm so happy to see that the Kelsy has expanded her collection to include more looks and has documented her SS13 collection via a look book and video. Kelsy's label, Carleen, seems to be on its way to being a much needed member of the American fashion scene.   

NYFW Spring 2013: Carlos Campos

2011 CFDA/ Vogue Fashion Fund finalist, Carlos Campos presented several monochromatic looks in shades of blue, yellow, white, and green for his Spring Summer 2013 collection at Milk Studios. Simple basics seem to be Campos' calling card, presenting another season with all the elements of a man's wardrobe.

 

 

NYFW Spring 2013: Public School NYC

Public School NYC has a goal to make men feel tough. I'm not sure if I would call the looks from the Spring Summer 2013 collection tough, but I'll definitely give them classically stylish. 

NYFW Spring 2013: Anndra Neen

Designers Phoebe and Annette Stephens, sisters originally from Mexico City, presented their line, Anndra Neen, at Milk Studios this week. Models wore soft nude tone sheaths under the large bold statement jewelry that include metal collars, necklaces, bracelets, rings, and bags. The collection of oversized jewelry is daring for most women but definitely has a place in a time where impactful jewelry seems to be having it's moment.

SS13 Trend: Tattoos II

I stated during the men's shows in Europe that tattoos are one of the biggest trends of the Spring Summer 2013 season. Now that it's fashion week here in New York one can see that it's most definitely still a trend on the other side of the ocean. On Milk's 8th floor Pamela Love opened her own tattoo shop were show goers can get some quick ink between presentations.

NYFW Spring 2013: Rochambeau & Holst + Lee

Some labels have a flare for the dramatic when it comes to presenting their work; Rochambeau is one of those labels. At the mystic water inspired Spring Summer 2013 presentation the room was lit green with models burning incense and filling the room with a haze. Not only did this make seeing the clothing difficult but made it near in possible to get a good photo. One thing that did stand out from the haze was the brightly colored jewelry by Holst + Lee adoring the models necks. 

NYFW Spring 2013: A. A. Antonio Azzuolo

I feel in love with Antonio Azzuolo and his line last year after watching The Fashion Fund, the documentary series following the designers seeking to win the CFDA/ Vogue Fashion Fund Award. Despite not winning, Azzuolo and his business have seen quite a boost in attention and fan fare. At todays presentation at Milk, the fans had to wait around the block onto 10th Avenue to get up to 8th floor show space.

 

 

 

NYFW Spring 2013: Jonathan Simkhai

At Jonathan Simkhai's Spring Summer 2013 presentation at Milk Studios summer wasn't yet over. Despite labor day nearing a week past, Simkhai's girls donned sunglasses and summer sun blonde locks. The clothing, simple soft hued garments perfect for warm weather dress.

Since we're on the subject of summer, one should listen to (and download for free) Penguin Prison's End of Summer Mix and enjoy the prolonged heat of the sizzling season with some good tunes.
