BYOB

Here's another great teaser video from JOHN for BYOB. BYOB or Bring Your Own Beamer is a single night event where artists bring projectors to exhibit their work that deals with projected light and the tangible. The event is Thursday February 28th from 6pm to 8pm at the RMIT Design Hub in Melbourne, Australia. For those who can't make it, like myself, we'll just have to watch this video.

Bubi Canal: Special Moment

This past Wednesday evening, recently relocated, Spanish multimedia artist, Bubi Canal had the reception for his opening solo show at Munch Gallery. Canal's work is a combination of video art, photography, and product design. Canal's new show juxtaposes child-like primary colored objects and costumes against beautiful landscapes and scenery in a short film and a series of photographs. Check out Canal's show Special Moment now until March 10th at the Munch Gallery.

A Fire in My Belly

"On Dec 1, 2010, a short video excerpt of "A Fire In My Belly" by David Wojnarowicz was pulled from the Hide/Seek exhibit at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery due to pressure from Republican lawmakers threatening the Smithsonian's funding."

Thanks to VandM.comthe Estate of David Wojnarowicz, and P.P.O.W Gallery the video, so scandalous some Republicans couldn't handle it, is available for us to watch from the comfort of our home. Here's the full silent 13 minute video featuring cockfighting, masturbation, bull fighting, fire blowers, wrestlers, and Mexican cripples. So you might not want to watch this at work or infront of the elderly.

Fab Beard

Canada's Fab Magazine celebrates the beard man! Watch behind the scenes video from Canada's Gay & Lesbian news, Xtra. This video, unfortunately, proves that having a beard definitely doesn't make you wise.

Homosocial

I always have to post these promotional videos for Australia's John Homosocial parties. Previous videos have definitely been better however this video features a plywood wall which is looks really sophisticated despite the strange actives taking place in front of it.

Raneytown

This summer I had the pleasure of meeting Rebeca Raney at Alder New York's studio. She came to talk to us about what we did at Alder and how our process worked for her blog Raneytown. It was great meeting Rebeca, a creative multimedia artist who, at the time, was beginning to prep for her solo show to open during Art Basel. If you are in Miami, today's your last chance to get a look at Rebeca's colorful creations. Otherwise, you are going to just have to watch this video of Rebeca gives a "rhythmic tour" of Raneytown at Primary Projects.

I Still Love You

Here's the awesome I Still Love You SS13 video created by Leveler media. The video features blonde bob wearing clones adorned in plastic geometric shapes suspended from gold chains. Earrings, necklaces, belts, and even glasses get this bold but simple treatment in numerous colors and patterns. See more from designer Carrie Morrissey at islynyc.com.

Spring 2013: Carleen

Kelsy Carleen Parkhouse is the first winner of the Liz Claiborne Concept to Product Award. The $25,000 prize is given to one graduating senior from the Pratt Institute Department of Fashion Design based upon the work exhibited during the Pratt Fashion Show. As a faculty member at Pratt, I was a big champion of Kelsy's Grand Canyon inspired collection filled with vintage textiles and hand quilting. I'm so happy to see that the Kelsy has expanded her collection to include more looks and has documented her SS13 collection via a look book and video. Kelsy's label, Carleen, seems to be on its way to being a much needed member of the American fashion scene.

Drag Doc

Here's a short documentary about the San Francisco drag scene by Danielle Levitt. I love anything relating to messing with peoples perception of gender.

SUPPORT ALDER NEW YORK

Support Alder New York's Kickstarter Project to fund the Fall 2013 collection. When you pledge your support you can receive garments from the not yet available spring season. Not only are the garments not yet available but at unbelievably low prices. For example, when you pledge $75 dollars you get a Contrast Pocket Shirt with a normal retail value of $175. When you pledge $150 dollars you get a  Olive Linen Pullover, regular retail price $318! The champaign is really just a huge sale. However, if the goal of $5000 isn't reached by the end of the month no one will get anything! No money for Alder and no clothing for plegers, so make sure to pledge and tell everyone else too! Go to the Alder New York Kickstarter page to check out the rewards and pledge your support!
