Stop it Right Now: Celine Skateboards

Remember the Celine's Spring Summer 2011 collection? You know the one with the women's blouse that Kayne West wore to Coachella. The one with those great prints in orange, green, and blue. Kayne West wasn't the only person who feel in love the that collection. Over at Stop it Right Now one's love for the collection has been translated in to three skate decks. If I skateboarded I would be all over these. If you skateboard you should be all over these. That's why you are going to send Stop it Right Now an email right now because quantities are limited and you don't want to miss out.

A Timely Return From the Beach

I was away earlier this week at the Jersey shore with Nina and my family. Luckily I had to return early to prepare for the first class I'll be teach at Pratt next week. Fortunately Cape May County was evacuated the next morning and my vacation would have ended anyway. So here I am left in my Brooklyn apartment waiting for a hurricane to blow in our windows looking at a few vacation photos.

I stole these images from my friend Sophia's Facebook. Nina and I visited her in Cape May on her birthday and had a few drinks and caught up with our fellow Pratt alum.

Sophia is working a safari look while I do the casual beach thing in an Opening Ceremony X Levis pullover and Nina does navy and white preppy country club.

Minnow Bathers

I'm in love with Canadian swimwear label Minnow Bathers! Created by Karen Donaldson and Vanessa Warrack the two designers bring vintage silhouettes together with modern geometric prints, florals, and my favorite wood grain (see below). The label, only three seasons old, holds stockist mostly in their home town of Toronto, but don't be disappointed, Minnow Bathers sell many of their uber-cool swimwear through their Etsy shop

Below are the wood grain drawstring briefs that I'm coveting for only $60 and above a really cute front cut out floral one piece only $135.  I've been looking for some more swimwear for this summer and I'm so glad to have found Minnow Bathers! Thanks to Jessica over at the Shiny Squirrel for leading me to my new favorite swimwear brand. See more after the break.

Surf-wear company Olasul creates collections "inspired by the unique experiences offered by the Peruvian coast." NYFW Day 2

FRANK TELL

loose drapey textured knit sweaters and tailored jackets and shirts filled Frank Tell's SS11 collection.
The palette was the same as last season and the stand outs were the large alien bouffant and massive wedges.

JULIAN LOUIE

An unconventional format was paired with an oversized look book to see the
 garments on a figure.
Ethnic prints cover peep toe wedges.
Rows of wedges.
Julian Louie's geometric and asymmetric desert palette presentation.

Happy Fashion Week!

It's the 2nd evening of New York Fashion Week and I have just returned from a night out for Fashion's Night Out and now have a chance to share some images of from the shows  for the past two days.
NOMIA

My Favorite of the collections.
The production of the show was great. A geometric mound anchored the runway.
I'm a big fan of the sheer asymmetrical sleeve.
Nomia's SS11 collection was filled with simple asymmetrical pieces in light grey, brown and cobalt. The concepts seemed  a bit referenced but over all a good presentation.

KIMBERLY OVITZ

Alien styling a la Rick Owens.
My favorite dress of the show. Simple blocked panels over a knit 3/4 sleeve dress.
Close up of the blocked panels.

Kimberly Ovitz's presentation of black, white and grey dresses channeled the likes of Gareth Pugh and Rick Owens.

LNA
Slouchy knits.

More slouchy knits.

MANDY COON

My favorite part of the Mandy Coon presentation has to be the braided helmet like hair.
