Ivy Style

Image via WWD

This past Friday a new exhibit opened at the FIT Museum called Ivy Style. The show curated by Patricia Mears is filled with garments that define the east coast collegiate style known as Ivy Style. Featured designers included J. Press, Brooks Brothers, Jeffery Banks, Thom Browne, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and many more. Personal highlights inculde a tweed Norfolk jacket with matching knickers dating from the 1920's and a pair of football pants from the 1900's. What's most interesting about the exhibit is that Ivy Style has virtually remained unchanged for over 100 years.

I May Look a Little Kooky But I'm Really Nice!

Hat: Soulland

I got some new glasses. I've been wanting a pair of round specs for a while now but haven't gotten around to finding the right pair. You may recognize these from the Alder Spring 2012 look book, We used these frames for the shoot with tinted lenses.
So far I've been called Mr. Potato Head, once, and that i look like a cartoon repeatedly. I just have to remind people that I know I look a little kooky but I'm really nice.

Ace Style

It's that time of year again. Some call it spring, I call it time to redecorate. Whenever the weather starts to warm up and the sun starts to set later in the day I get an itch to paint, hang and rearrange. This season I'm pulling inspiration for the eclectic style of the Ace hotels. I love the predominately neutral color scheme with accents of warmer tones through natural woods, textiles, and books. I can't wait to reveal my new Ace inspired styling.

A Clean Shave

Brad Goreski, former apprentice to celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe, was photographed and interviewed by Style Caster. The handsome newby stylist was shot at the equally handsome The New York Shaving Company in Soho. He briefly talks about his new Bravo show and of course clothes. You can read the interview here and can see more photos after the jump.

A Timely Return From the Beach

I was away earlier this week at the Jersey shore with Nina and my family. Luckily I had to return early to prepare for the first class I'll be teach at Pratt next week. Fortunately Cape May County was evacuated the next morning and my vacation would have ended anyway. So here I am left in my Brooklyn apartment waiting for a hurricane to blow in our windows looking at a few vacation photos.

I stole these images from my friend Sophia's Facebook. Nina and I visited her in Cape May on her birthday and had a few drinks and caught up with our fellow Pratt alum.

Sophia is working a safari look while I do the casual beach thing in an Opening Ceremony X Levis pullover and Nina does navy and white preppy country club.

Kate Loves Me

Pelayo Diaz of Kate Loves Me has the most interesting style. He seems to take the most current trends and coolest accessories i.e. those Prada shoes I nearly died for from Spring Summer 2011 and makes them seem newer and fresher then their original debut. His personal style is heavily influenced by skinhead/punk culture and military uniforms, but through a forward thinking, fashion obsessed lens. See more photos after the break.

At Home with Daphne Guinness

Daphne Guinness, the over the top style icon and heiress, is know for her outrageous personal style but what about her interior design style? Architectural Digest has allowed us to find out where Guinness lives through a tour of her New York City apartment. I've selected three of my favorite views. My absolute favorite thing in her apartment is the Damien Hirst painting, Another Amazing Transcendental Experience. (second picture)
